Not under that name. Since watchOS 11, Apple Watch has Training Load, which tells you whether your last week was more or less than you are used to. It does not judge whether your training is productive, the way Garmin’s Training Status does. If you want a single status on Apple Watch, an app can add it.
What does Garmin’s Training Status do?
Garmin combines the trend of your VO2 max with your recent training load, and on newer watches your HRV, into one label such as Productive, Maintaining, Peaking, Overreaching or Detraining. The appeal is obvious: one word that answers “is my training working?”.
What does Apple Watch offer instead?
Apple splits the same question across three places:
| What you want to know | On Apple Watch |
|---|---|
| Am I doing more or less than usual? | Training Load: your last 7 days against the previous 28, from Well Below to Well Above. |
| Is my body coping? | Vitals: overnight heart rate, breathing rate, wrist temperature, blood oxygen and sleep, flagged when they leave your typical range. |
| Is my fitness improving? | Cardio Fitness: Apple’s VO2 max estimate, in the Health app. |
Nothing ties the three together into one verdict. That is the gap people notice when they move from a Garmin. For how to read the first of them, see What does Training Load mean on Apple Watch?.
How do I get a status on Apple Watch?
Kiiro reads your workouts from Apple Health and gives you one status, updated after every workout:
| Status | What it means |
|---|---|
| Undertrained | Far less than you are used to. Fitness is fading. |
| Detraining | Noticeably less than usual. |
| Fresh | Slightly under your normal. Good before a race. |
| Balanced | In line with what your body is prepared for. |
| Building | More than usual, at a rate you can absorb. |
| Fatigued | A big jump. Fine for a few days if recovery follows. |
| Overtrained | Much more than you are prepared for. Time to back off. |
It is worth being clear about the difference. Kiiro’s status comes from your training load: how your acute load over the last week compares with your fitness level over about six weeks. Garmin’s label also weighs your VO2 max trend and HRV. They answer the same question in different ways, so do not expect the same word on the same day.
Kiiro shows your VO2 max, resting heart rate and HRV trends beside the status, so you can see the rest of the picture yourself. See training load in Kiiro.

- How can I tell if I'm overtraining?: No single number tells you. Look for several signs together: training load well above what you are used to, a raised resting heart rate, a lower HRV, and runs that feel harder than they should.
